Desmond Jui applies the extensive knowledge of trial that he gained through his five years in chambers to his work on behalf of the firm's clients.
Desmond joined the firm from the chambers of the Honorable Anthony W. Ishii, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, where Desmond served as a judicial law clerk for two years. Desmond also served as a judicial law clerk in the Superior Court of California, Los Angeles Division for three years. During his two judicial clerkships, Desmond was involved in nearly three dozen jury trials, spanning over 100 days of trial, countless evidentiary hearings and motions hearings.
In private practice, Desmond has built on his courtroom experiences, including arguing motions at trial. Desmond is also experienced in all facets of pre-trial work and discovery, both oral and written.
Desmond's oral and written advocacy is not limited to the district courts. Desmond has argued before the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
Desmond earned a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and spent three years before law school with the United States Department of Defense working with nuclear reactor plant systems for use in submarines.
In law school, Desmond also gained firsthand trial experience during internships with the United States Department of Justice and the St. Joseph County, Indiana Public Defenders' Office.
Desmond is an accomplished competitive outrigger canoe paddler, often sitting in seat 1, also known as the stroke.
